Amenities/Activities
Located
on South Lakes Drive, next to our property, is one of
the Reston Association (RA) maintained outdoor pools
which received new decking and a refurbished pool
house in the winter of 2006. Lighted tennis courts, a
regional library, a nature
center, and miles of
natural and maintained paths including access to the
W&OD Bike Trail between Mt. Vernon and the
Appalachian Trail. In addition, Shadowood maintains
three tot lots for the children in our community.
Our
well-lit parking areas are designed to blend with
environment with island plantings and shielded,
low-glare light fixtures.
Our
community is active in neighborhood watch with our own
security patrol. Our activities committee sponsors
periodic yard sales, real estate workshops, fire
prevention seminars, and children's activities. Yard
sales and real estate workshops are open to
nonresidents and residents alike.
The
Shadowood Clubhouse, with its large carpeted meeting room,
two high-definition television connections (but no
televisions yet), conference room, wireless and wired
high-speed internet services, rest-room facilities,
and fully equipped kitchen is available for rental by
unit owners in good standing. The nominal rental fee for or unit owners is
set by the Board of Directors. The Clubhouse
was completely renovated in 2007.

Transportation
Shadowood is conveniently located on Metro's
express and local bus line systems. With bus stops on
both South Lakes and Soapstone Drives, you are within
a short and comfortable ride to endless cultural and
entertaining activities of the metropolitan Washington,
DC area. The Reston Internal Bus Service
(RIBS) is also
available to Shadowood residents for local transit
within Reston and non rush-hour service to the West
Falls Church Metro station.
All bus
services are FREE on Code Orange, Red and Purple
Ozone Action Days.

is less than a mile from the future Wiehle
Metro Station and the Reston Town Center
Transit Station.
Shopping
and Entertainment
Several convenient shopping centers are nearby. Each
center includes grocery and drug stores, restaurants
and fast-food restaurants, gas and service stations,
video rental shops and many specialty shops. Within a
short walk are a 7-Eleven, a dry cleaner, Chinese and
pizza restaurants, with take out and delivery
services.
Shadowood
is close to both the Reston Town Center and the
Reston
Community Center providing a wide array of
entertainment including theater, movies, restaurants,
a hotel indoor and outdoor activities throughout the
year and is less that 6 miles to Tyson's Corner
Center, one of the nation's largest shopping malls.
